Welsh love ring – Sterling silver love ring with a Welsh inscription around the circumference and a Welsh dragon on the inside.
The script reads: Un fodrwy i ddangos ein cariad; Un fodrwy i’n clymu
Which translates as: One ring to show our love; One ring to bind us.
Llywelyn Fawr, also known as Llywelyn the Great, was one of the most influential and significant rulers of medieval Wales. In 1206, he married Joan, the daughter of King John of England.
The union cemented a powerful alliance between Wales and England at a time when tensions between the two countries were high. Over the next few years, Llywelyn and Joan fell deeply in love with one another, despite the political turmoil that surrounded them. Their love was legendary, and it inspired the creation of our Welsh love ring.
This beautiful ring, which is inscribed with the words “Un fodrwy i ddangos ein cariad; Un fodrwy i’n clymu” or “One ring to show our love; One ring to bind us”, is a symbol of love between two people.
Although their story ended tragically with Llywelyn’s death in 1240, their legacy continues to live on through this iconic ring.
